High School Competition
Cinematheque Tel Aviv, Cinematheque 1
Monday 29.6, 12:00
There’s something different about the high school years of life. Everything seems brighter, more dramatic and exciting. It’s a magical era, where you’re no longer a child - yet still not part of adult life. The emotional range that forms during those years and the honesty and creativity one experiences as a teenager are once in a lifetime. We are beyond lucky that people in this stage of their lives are picking up cameras and capturing windows into those monumental feelings.
We at the 28th Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival are proud to present the third edition of the Young Creators Competition - a competition that showcases a varied, authentic and unique portrait that brings to the screen numerous answers to the question - what does it mean to become of-age and grow up? and specifically, what does it mean in a country as special and unique as ours? This competition is unlike the others in this festival - It exposes us to a glimpse of a unique generation, one that grew up in the midst of a pandemic and numerous wars, and brings to the screen an intimate exhibition of teenage life.
All films in this competition were produced in different high schools all throughout Israel. This combination provides us with a fascinating, brave and honest portrayal of the heart of the coming-of-age years. We invite you to join us down the rabbit hole and become enamoured by creators who just might be the next generation of Israeli filmmakers.
Honored and excited,
Ella Steinberger and Yuval Adar,
