We live within a constant, threatening reality of war. It surrounds us on all sides: through mobile alerts, sirens, and explosions; on flickering screens and stickers commemorating the fallen in public spaces. It seeps into us every time a suspicious object quickens our pulse on the street, or as we sketch imaginary escape routes in our minds. Yet, paradoxically, this reality, which has become an inseparable part of our lives, is rarely reflected in all its complexity in local cinema.

Too often, instead of facing the horror, the screen offers us heroism; instead of questions, it offers answers; and instead of the confusion we actually feel, it offers dry facts. We believe that the way to grapple with this "unthinkable" situation is not to flee from it, but to use cinema to look it straight in the eye. The power to process the fear and alienation enveloping us lies in our ability to capture them through the lens. After all, true horror does not need fictional monsters or special effects; it is right here, in our most immediate and intimate surroundings.

The workshop invites filmmaking duos to practice a different gaze: to observe the everyday and identify the visual images that echo the anxiety and threat we live under.

Workshop Structure:

• Introduction: An introduction to the Intangible Cinema Project and the tools and possibilities it offers for independent, subversive filmmaking, followed by a guided viewing of images that exemplify everyday horror.

• Practical Laboratory: Pairs will head out to search for, distill, and film elements of horror from their immediate surroundings.

• Break

• Guided Viewing: Screening of the footage captured by the pairs, followed by a collaborative discussion.

Technical Details:

• When: Friday, June 26 | 10:30–13:30.

• Admission: Registration is required in advance, and space is limited. Participants will pay a 20 NIS registration fee.

• Equipment: All footage must be captured using smartphones only (no professional cameras). Please arrive with a suitable device.
