A young Danish woman pursues her music career in Germany while facing criticism for the liberal, unconventional parenting of her eight-year-old daughter.

During an expedition, a young photographer misses her ride back to the city. At a bus stop, she meets a young man celebrating his birthday. With curfew approaching, the two strangers are forced to spend the night together at a roadside hotel.

Tang is an elderly man, using Buddhism to suppress his pedophilia. His neighbor Chun, a child neglected by his mother, seeks help from Tang and dines at Tang’s home. Chun's request to stay the night puts Tang in a moral dilemma.
